The Herdman's Type Distinguished by their tri color and extraordinarily good nature this type is the inheritor of Old Hemp's sire's personality with good common sense, easy ways and talented strength. The historic basis of this type were Herdman's Tommy 16 and Barbara Carpenter's Brocken Robbie.
These are the type dogs you call upon to save you in an emergency, when the cows are out on the road in a blinding snow storm, when the ewes have broken down the fence and gotten into the corn, or when the rams have gotten out it is these dogs that will put things to right and literally, willingly lay down their very lives to do so. Their hearts are as big as their souls, they are shorter bodied, short to medium height, medium to full coated, tri colored dogs with no particular ear set who are long lived and have an awe inspiring natural outruns and beautiful flanks. My Grandfather's favorite type of dog our kennel has been blessed with more than our share; my late Jerry, his Daughter Kilt, her Daughters Loos and Qwist, and my late Imported Coed Bill. You are fortunate indeed if you share your life with this type.
